A Wintery Walk
A cold, cloudy, wintery day in the Oxfordshire countryside … with a sprinkling of sheep and chickens in a calm, dreamy landscape. I’ve missed going on my daily walks, and whenever I emerge outdoors I’m overcome with the contrasting emotions of sweet joy at being in the midst of such beauty, and the sadness of no longer having my two four-legged girls with me to enjoy it with.
But I’m fortunate to have good friends with whom to amble along, and who remind me to appreciate the simple and pure delights of slippery mud beneath our feet, stiles to clamber over, and … oh, look at the sheep over there!
There’s always something quite magical in the air out here. Just stop and breathe it all in.
It isn’t exactly an award-winning photograph I know, but I couldn’t resist taking a snap of the chicken sitting quite comfortably up the tree!
So I’ve decided that I’m going to go for as many walks as possible from here on as not only is it good to finally get out again, to take a break and fill my lungs with fresh air, but it reminds me of how grateful I am to be surrounded by many blessings. And of course, it’s also hugely inspirational … you know that I’m now going to have to draw those sheep and that chicken, don’t you?! Wishing all of you a wonderful final week of 2018 … cheers.
